How is cupping therapy done?
In cupping therapy we use special glass, plastic or silicone containers, which we call cupping-glasses. Their action is due to negative pressure that is exerted on the tissues, affecting beneficially both the tissues themselves and the blood circulation.
By a change in temperature to the cupping glass, which is done with the use of heat or an absorption of air, the internal pressure decreases so that the muscle on the surface of the skin is pulled by the cupping glass and is retained inside of it.
Are cupping glasses dangerous?
Cupping glasses are completely harmless and do not cause any pain but they must be applied by a trained therapist to avoid injury, burning, swelling or skin disease.
